1541-dos reads standard single-sided MS-DOS disks in a 1541. This single-sided
limitation is, of course, due to the 1541 having only one head which means
you have to use a MS-DOS disk formatted with the /1 option.  This leaves you
with 180k of space (more space than a standard 1541 disk!) and remains
100% MS-DOS compatible.  However, due to the 1541's lack of enough RAM,
1541-dos can only write 90k of information to an MFM disk.  In the
current 1541-dos release this information is not stored in an MS-DOS
compatible format so a special program is needed to extract it from the
disk on a PC.
