- 1541-dos reads standard single-sided MS-DOS disks in a 1541. This single-sided
- limitation is, of course, due to the 1541 having only one head which means
- you have to use a MS-DOS disk formatted with the /1 option. This leaves you
- with 180k of space (more space than a standard 1541 disk!) and remains
- 100% MS-DOS compatible. However, due to the 1541's lack of enough RAM,
- 1541-dos can only write 90k of information to an MFM disk. In the
- current 1541-dos release this information is not stored in an MS-DOS
- compatible format so a special program is needed to extract it from the
- disk on a PC.
